STUD FACILITIES

We are a DEFRA Approved Semen Collection Centre for EU Export. Our export number is UK-9046-EC

Dummy Mare
Our dummy mare ensures we can collect semen anytime without the need of a mare in season which means that we can guarantee you delivery when you need it.

Indoor Collection & Serving Area
Our purpose built indoor collection, serving & teasing area ensures a high degree of health & safety to mare stallion & handlers. The rubber flooring ensures as anti slip & hygienic surface reducing uterine infection from covering on a dusty school or paddock. It ensures collection teasing or service can take place away form outside hazards or weather.

Laboratory
We are constantly adding new equipment to our laboratory  enabling us to keep up with the latest technology & offer an even better service
Our  on site A.I technicians ensure that all semen is checked for quality & processed correctly prior to dispatch, ensuring the best possible chance of conception.

Stocks
Our stocks & veterinary examination area enables all veterinary work to be carried out safely with the minimum of stress to your mare

which can be used to keep competition mares fit whilst they are here.
Separate mare & foal paddocks & indoor exercise areas as well as Nursery Paddocks
Numerous post & rail paddocks for visiting mares which enables them to be turned out
in  small groups to reduce continual 'pecking order' changes.
A block of foaling boxes, which are covered by CCTV This also means that when
mares are taken for foaling we can video the event for you,

 Karen Raine stud owner & manager is a qualified A.I. Technician. (we have 3 qualified A.I. Technicians) and a laboratory on site for the preparation and assessment of semen. This enables us to guarantee the quality of both the semen sent out for A.I as well as a strict quality control on the semen used for AI & natural service on site. Karen is also a N.V.Q. qualified assessor & Specialist Stud Assessor, she is also the Stud Assessor for Myrescough College with whom the stud have very strong links. Our staff hold N.V.Q. Specialist Stud Unit Qualifications as well as B.H.S. qualifications and Equine Science degrees.
 

Veterinary Services
Our main aim is to get your mare in foal as easily & quickly as possible for you & we have excellent veterinary back up to help us do so. All work at the stud is carried out by  Oakhill Veterinary Centre & is billed direct to the client.
We can take care of everything from swabbing to scanning, or if preferred mares can just come for a few days to be served.

Veterinary Packages
We suggest clients take advantage of the excellent value vet packages available from Oakhill Veterinary Centre. These packages are optional, mares can still be billed on a per scan etc. basis.
2011 ALL INCLUSIVE VETS PACKAGE :-

The package covers all visits, routine stud work & ultrasound scans until your mare is in foal or the end of the current season. Investigation of chronic infertility problems, accident, illness or sedation are not included.(all vets fees are subject to VAT) 

A.I. PACKAGES
As well as A.I. using stallions on site semen can be obtained for A.I. from any stallion of your choice.
A.I. using stallion on site or Walk in :- relevant above vets package ( one off payment)
plus £30 per cycle
A.I. using outside stallions :- relevant above vets package( one off payment)
plus £60 per cycle, this includes a fee for liaising with the relevant stud & all paperwork for the insemination.
N.B. A.I. mares do not need swabbing unless specified by the stud supplying the semen.
  
GUARANTEED OVERNIGHT CHILLED SEMEN SERVICE
Mares can be artificially inseminated with fresh semen at the stud at a small additional fee.(see A.I Packages) We suggest that owners of nervous or young mares may consider A.I. It can also be of advantage for mares with a lot of uterine fluid to aid conception, all these matters we will be happy to discuss & advise you on.
Fresh, chilled semen is available from all our stallions for overnight delivery to anywhere in the U.K. or Ireland. This gives mare owners an alternative to traveling a very young foal or a mare long distance. We liaise with your vet & organize everything at this end for you.

WE ARE ON OF THE FEW  STUDS TO OFFER NFFR TERMS ON CHILLED SEMEN
Usually chilled semen terms are 3 insemination doses, with our NFFR terms it means that we will provide as many insemination doses as it takes to get you mare in foal, This enables vets to order a second delivery of semen for one cycle if necessary to ensure timing with ovulation, This unlimited supply of semen greatly enhances your chances of getting your mare in foal. It also carries forward to the following year as with any NFFR Terms.
We offer a superb overnight delivery service for chilled semen from any of the stallions ( except Nocona Shaimar)  The quality of the semen is guaranteed, it is processed on site in our own laboratory by qualified A.I Technicians ensuring it reaches your mare in optimum condition to produce conception.
We have one of the quickest turn around order times in the UK for chilled semen. Semen ordered by 10.30am one morning (Mon - Fri) will be delivered by  9am the following morning. This makes it much easier than a 48hr order service for your vets to time insemination with the mare’s ovulation. Same day delivery or pick up can be arranged for Sunday, Monday & Bank Holiday insemination. We can collect at weekends and Bank Holidays to cater for any mares with difficult timings.
When using chilled / frozen semen it is very important that you use a vet / A.I Centre which regularly A.I's. If your own vet does not do this, or you do not know where does please contact us, we have an extensive list of Vets/A.I Centre all across the U.K. which we have successfully dealt with in the past, this list is available by email or post.

Semen collected from Stud - Collection & mini tub charge £60
Monday, Sunday or Bank holiday deliveries - We do have an excellent courier service, this is priced on an individual journey basis quotes for which can be obtained on request.

All collection & delivery fees are subject to VAT at the current rate
Frozen semen is also available from Stallion A.I Services  please contact the Stud.

WALK IN STALLIONS
These are stallions which stand with us but are not permanently resident here at the stud, they come to collect when needed. Mares for these stallions come under the Terms & Conditions of the Stud. There is no VAT on the stud fees for Walk in Stallions or any Stallion not owned by Country Farm Stud.
